COMMITTEES AND ACTIVITIES
The PTO provides many wonderful activities, services and funds that benefit every child in our school. Being involved in the PTO allows you to participate and make a difference in your child’s education. It is a great way to meet other parents!
As you can imagine it takes quite a few people to make our programs run successfully.
-
BUILDING COMMUNITY
These events are being reworked this school year to include community building activities at the school! We are aiming for 2-3 events throughout the school year that range from fundraising dinners at local restaurants to evening activities at the school. Volunteers are needed to help publicize, support and occasionally help with activities at the event.
-
CHRISTMAS BAZAAR
The Christmas Bazaar provides a great shopping experience, Christmas joy, and an opportunity for our children to visit Santa the first Saturday of December. Volunteers are needed to help with the Bake Sale, raffle baskets, Santa stage organization, and set-up/clean up. This is the PTO’s main fundraiser, and we need MANY volunteers for its success.
-
FATHER/DAUGHTER AND MOTHER/SON DANCE
This is a mid-Spring dance for 3rd through 6th grade students and their parent. We need a team to help organize and plan this wonderful event. Volunteers will also be needed to set up, host, and clean up.
-
FIELD DAY
Field Day is a fun day of activities and games for Preschool-7th Grade. Field Day is held in late May, and volunteers are needed to help with the games, set up, water distribution, escort students to and from the various scheduled activities and clean up.
-
GRANDPARENTS DAY
Grandparent’s Day has become a favored tradition at St. Helen over the years and is a wonderful way to celebrate our grandparents and those adults that are like grandparents to our children. Volunteers are needed to help with set up, take photos, serve, and clean up.
-
7th/8th GRADE SOCIAL
This is a mid-Spring event for the 7th and 8th graders that allows the students to socialize with their peers at school one evening. We need a team to come up with a social theme and help organize this fun event. Volunteers will also be needed for set-up and clean-up.
-
TEACHER APPRECIATION DAYS
Each trimester, the PTO provides a luncheon and/or treat for our faculty. A sign-up form for food donations and volunteers (assist with set-up and clean up) will be emailed to all parents a couple of weeks before each luncheon.
-
TRUNK-OR-TREAT
The PTO partners with the Booster Club to host this fun event. Volunteers are encouraged to decorate their automobiles in Halloween style! Following the Trunk or Treat with weather permitting families enjoy a Bonfire on the Hill (soccer fields) with hot dogs and hot chocolate. The event is held on the Saturday closest to All Saints/All Souls Day.
-
USED UNIFORM SALE
The Used Uniform Sale is held in the Fall and the Spring and is a way to purchase uniforms at a reduced price. Volunteers are needed to help set up, sort used uniforms as they are brought to the sale, and put the unsold uniforms away.
